CBD and Pain Relief

CBD and Pain Relief

CBD is an amazing healing option for pain relief. Whenever I speak to a customer about their pain — I tell them that pain is the “Trifecta of Suffering.” First, when you have acute or chronic pain, whether it be knee, neck, low back, etc., you do not feel your best. Second, when you are in pain it ratchets up your level of stress and anxiety because your shoulders and chest are tense, you may not be breathing deeply, and you are constantly thinking that you want to be out of pain. And, the third part is that when you have big pain, it may be difficult for you to find a comfortable position to sleep and so now, you are also battling insomnia.

It is a lot to deal with. Sometimes the pain stems from an injury, overuse, repetitive motion, or a degenerative condition such as arthritis. The best part about the healing properties of CBD is that may be able to significantly reduce the systemic inflammation that is underlying that pain as it works through your Endocannabinoid System. Truly, inflammation is the cause of most dis-ease in our bodies. Tamping that down or even erasing it altogether is what we want you to experience.

Taking a CBD tincture, capsule, or edible is going to help work on reducing pain and bringing relief everywhere in your body. It is a personal preference as to which delivery system you want to use. However, there are times when for some customers taking a tincture is the answer and for other customers, a capsule or gel cap may work better. Depending on how well you respond to a product will determine whether it is the right product for you.

Trial & Error Questions:

*Is the potency enough to address the pain?

*Are you taking the product once or twice a day?

*Have you given the product enough time to work?

*Do I need to also do a CBD topical to offer relief in specific areas?

Once you have answered these questions then you are on the road to less pain and better health. Your shoulders may drop down and that grimace on your face may disappear. It is always our goal to work with customers to tailor what they take to how they respond to each product they try.

There is no single CBD/THC product that works effectively, on pain relief, for all people. You can call us for a consult or come into the store and try a sample or two to see what kind of response it creates for you. We are happy to be on your CBD/THC adventure with you and get you feeling your best!

The Benefits of Terpenes in the Hemp Plant

The Benefits of Terpenes in the Hemp Plant

Hemp and cannabis plants have several kinds of compounds including, flavonoids, phytochemicals, and terpenes. Terpenes are the aromatic, essential oil part of these plants. There are over 100 different kinds of terpenes and each one has its own particular qualities and benefits. However, all terpenes appear to have the following properties in common.

Terpene Attributes
  • Anti-Oxidant effects.
  • Add to the aroma and taste of the flower, tincture, and gummies.
  • May increase the efficacy of a particular strain or product as they work synergistically with cannabinoids.
  • Interact with your CB1 and CB2 receptors to help activate your Endocannabinoid System.

Most of us know which cannabinoids are present in the products we use. For example, if you are seeking help with insomnia, you would want to have a product that has both CBD and CBN (cannabinol). Adding terpenes that have more sedative properties will also assist those cannabinoids in working to help you get a great night’s sleep. Some terpenes give energy and are combined in a formula that helps keep you uplifted.

Are there Terpenes in my product?

When you buy Isolate CBD there are no other cannabinoids or terpenes. When you have Broad-Spectrum CBD there are at least two different cannabinoids and several terpenes. Or, when you take Full-Spectrum CBD you are getting the total plant experience. Terpenes do not have psychoactive properties whether they come from cannabis or hemp. Truly, terpenes are simply a valuable part of the plant and bring extra benefits to all formulations.

Certain plants are grown to have specific terpene profiles giving them a particular flavor. Many times it is how the plant is named depending on the smell and taste it offers. Indica and Sativa strains are describing the cannabinoids that are present but terpenes do not fall under those two categories.

Some of the more widely found terpenes are Pinene, Humulene, Caryophyllene, Limonene, Myrcene, and Linalool. There are numerous others that are either not as common or even quite rare in hemp. Like a Vitamin B supplement, the whole complex of possible ingredients works best when they are present together. The wide variety of cannabinoids and terpenes means that there are endless combinations of the two. The world of both hemp and cannabis is greatly enriched by all the possible options for consumers.

Lucky us to have so many wonderful choices.

Fall Into A Place of Calm & Clarity

Fall Into A Place of Calm & Clarity

We are living in very stressful times. So much is changing so fast and we all need a place of calm and clarity. Our societal norms, our weather patterns, our technology, our families, our work lives, and our relationships with friends and coworkers are all in flux. It is a lot to take on. If these issues are stressing you out or overwhelming your ability to function well — then CBD may be an excellent option for you.

There is a way to walk through your day feeling calmer, grounded, and focused. CBD and other cannabinoids are amazing at helping clear out those cobwebs and help you lighten your load. Instead of repeating thoughts, biting your nails, or self-medicating with bad food or bad drugs, you can try CBD and let it work for you. CBD works on your Endocannabinoid System (ECS) to get you into a state of balance. It does this without causing negative side effects and without addictive properties.

CBD stimulates your ECS to fire up receptors in your brain and body and make your own cannabinoids. Those cannabinoids impact every system in your body that is stressed. That stress is what can cause so many health challenges. Whether it be emotional or physical, even a little bit of stress can increase the intensity of any issue. If you feel just a bit anxious when you wake up in the morning, imagine how you will feel after a tense day at work. It is likely to be worse.

With CBD/CBG/CBC, you can nip that anxiety in its earliest stages before you head down the road toward a possible headache, stomach ache, or panic attack. The beauty of CBD, in its many formulations, is that it works relatively quickly and it may help you let go of those stressful feelings and reach a place of calm and clarity. Cluttering up your head with worry prevents you from functioning at your best. So, letting CBD clear out your head and body from anxiety, helps you move through your day with ease.

There are lots of non-pharmaceutical options to consider. You can do yoga, meditation, exercise, and enjoy nature. All of those options are good for your overall well-being. And, you may still need to take a supplement such as CBD. Many times a multi-pronged approach to good health is the way to go. There is not really a single practice or supplement that works for all people all of the time. It is good to explore the many possibilities and consider examining your lifestyle choices, your diet, and what kinds of supplements you take. Getting the right combination for you is most important. No single solution exists for all, but we can all reach a place of calm and clarity.

Here is a great opportunity, as we change the season, to make positive changes for yourself. Go ahead and leap into a beautiful fall season with some CBD!

Breast Cancer Flatties: We Flat Out Love Them

Breast cancer is the most common cancer for women in the U.S. One out of every eight persons is at risk for this kind of cancer. That is a staggering statistic. Put ten women in a room and it is likely that one or more will find out they have breast cancer during their life. Most of us know someone, or several people, who have some kind of cancer. Breast cancer is a very difficult and many times devastating diagnosis. Thousands of women, known as “Flatties”, get breast cancer each year and choose not to have reconstruction surgery.

Breast reconstruction or not?

Western medicine has come a long way in treating breast cancer with surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, drugs, and radiation. There are also a number of non-traditional modalities such as acupuncture, meditation, reiki, and massage therapy that help when one is going through treatment. Some women opt for reconstructive surgery while a number of women do not. They are known as “Flatties” because they no longer have breasts after a mastectomy.

Sometimes when a woman has one or both breasts removed and decides to do the reconstructive procedures with implants — there are significant complications. Surgery is always a risk and the implants may leak. This can lead to all kinds of health issues and delay one’s ability to get back to a healthier place. There is a name for this, Breast Implant Illness (BII) and there are a number of people with implants that now have multiple sclerosis, lupus, and other auto-immune conditions.

Flatties need not worry about surgery or implants which for many, is a big relief. Finishing up treatment and moving forward is an option that more and more breast cancer thrivers are choosing. There are Flatties all over the U.S. and all over the world. This October 8th, 2022 in Mesa, Colorado will be the largest gathering of Flatties ever called, Flat Out on Flat Top. You may check it out on the Flat Out Love Facebook page or Flat Out Love on Instagram. It is very exciting and CBD Jubilee is happy to be one of the sponsors of this big meet up. This event was created by our own Lissa Sears who is incredibly passionate about advocating for those who do not want reconstructive surgery.

Flat Out on Flat Top:

Lissa says, “On Oct 21, 1998, federal law required that most group insurance plans cover breast reconstruction. Prior to that, after a mastectomy, most women went Flat because doctors weren’t pushing reconstruction like they are today. Many times doctors won’t even offer Flat as an option. It is possible that they make more money for more surgery but they also do it because their image of a woman is one who is supposed to have breasts. Then there are others that leave extra skin because “You may change your mind” as one doctor said to a fellow activist as she was restating in the operating room that she wanted to go “Flat.”

Lissa works with Flatties everywhere to help them overcome body image challenges after breast cancer. She also wants them to know they are supported by so many others who have opted out of reconstruction. According to Lissa, “A lot of people are not like me and they can’t even look at themselves in the mirror without their breasts. It breaks my heart and it is the reason I do Flattie activism work because with or without breasts you sometimes just need a little help from people who are on a similar journey and need that extra encouragement.” Some women have reconstructive surgery and down the road develop BII. They then have to remove those implants and become a Flattie.

Flatties deserve the support:

We want to support women on their health and wellness journey. We want Flatties to know that there are terrific, non-medication, non-surgical options for dealing with lingering side effects such as systemic inflammation and pain. Insomnia and auto-immune troubles can persist. CBD is such a great supplement that may help calm down that inflammation and reduce one’s pain. It can also assist in keeping tough symptoms at bay. We work with many individuals who have had all kinds of cancer and are seeking alternatives to pharmaceuticals. Sometimes, customers use both traditional and non-traditional options.

We honor all the Flatties who have taken their health into their own hands and are striving to feel their best. Supporting you on your journey is what we want to do. Join us in celebrating International Flat Day on October 7th or join the gathering on October 8th in Mesa, Colorado!

CBD for Daytime or Nighttime: An Educated Opinion

CBD for Daytime or Nighttime: An Educated Opinion

The beauty of the hemp plant has multiple cannabinoids and terpenes that are a combination of all kinds of interesting formulations and delivery systems.  The two major cannabinoids are CBD and THC — and then there are numerous cannabinoids such as CBG, CBDa, CBN, Delta-8 THC, CBC and so many more. Each of these cannabinoids is working on your Endocannabinoid System (ECS) however, each one may have different healing properties. Depending on the cannabinoid you take, whether it is CBD, CBN, or another one, the effects can be different during the daytime or the nighttime.

CBG for Daytime:

For example, CBG/cannabigerol is my true favorite cannabinoid. It is excellent for helping to clear out one’s head and find a place of calm. When it is needed, it can also help to reduce one’s level of pain. The beauty of CBG is that it does not tend to make people sleepy. Therefore, it is great for daytime use. In combination with CBD — it may also be taken during the day or night.

CBN for Nighttime:

Then there is CBN/cannabinol which seems to have more sedative properties. Thus, it is a great cannabinoid to help one get to sleep and stay asleep through the night. It can be ingested by itself or in combination with CBD or herbs that also assist in getting a good night’s rest. It is not something you would want to use in the daytime.

All of these cannabinoids may be taken as a tincture, a gummy, a vape, a capsule, or in a beverage. That is what makes the world of CBD/hemp so interesting as there is such a wide variety of options. Vaping acts very fast but does not have as much of a long-lasting positive impact as a tincture or an edible. Each person has to figure out what delivery system works best for them. Some people will take a tincture in the morning and an edible at night.

CBD helps in all sorts of situations during the daytime and nighttime. Working with someone who is knowledgeable about the many different kinds of hemp products is key. We want you to feel more than fine — maybe even fabulous!
